WORKING OF IVERMECTIN 6MG

• Ivermectin is an anti-parasitic drug that neutralizes the parasites by acting on the nervous system. It starves the worms by making them paralysied then slowly killing them.
• Ivermectin 6mg drug works by initially paralyzing the parasite by attaching to the inside structure of the parasite and then destroying the parasite and it also prevents adult parasites from creating larvae for a while.
• It controls the strongyloidiasis infection by killing the parasites present in the intestine completely.
• In the case of onchocerciasis infection, it can only control the infection by killing the developing worms but not the adult worms.
• Ivermectin 6mg is an antiparasitic agent that acts against the parasite by selectively binding to the glutamate-gated chloride ion channels present in the nerve and muscle cells of the organisms. Composition of ivermectin to glutamate gated chloride ion channels increases the influx of chloride ion which results in hyperpolarization, leading to paralysis and death of the parasite.

DOSAGES OF IVERMECTIN 6MG TABLET

Follow the recommendation by your doctor because the dose of this medicine will be different for different patients based on the factors such as age and weight and medical condition and medical history of the patient. Following indicated dosages are for general reference;

For parasite infection in the intestinal tract;

• For Child (ages 0–17 years) dosage;  general dosage is 200 mcg/kg of body weight taken per day.
• For Adult (ages 18–64 years) dosage; general dosage is 200 mcg/kg of body weight taken per day.
• For Senior (ages 65 years and older) dosage; Your liver may not work properly to absorb the medicine so this can cause your body to process drugs more slowly. Therefore, this drug can stay in your body for a longer time which raises risk of side effects.

For parasite infection in skin or eyes;

• For Child (ages 0–17 years) dosage;  general dosage is 150 mcg/kg of body weight taken per day.
• For Adult (ages 18–64 years) dosage; general dosage is 150 mcg/kg of body weight taken per day.
• For Senior (ages 65 years and older) dosage; Your liver may not work properly to absorb the medicine so this can cause your body to process drugs more slowly. Therefore, this drug can stay in your body for a longer time which raises risk of side effects.

SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG

Side effects of ivermectin may vary from person to person and depend upon various other factors. Therefore, you should only use this medicine when prescribed by your doctor after examine your medical condition for more benefit;

Some common side effects; common effects may go upon itself within 2-4 days or within a week. But if it does not go then consult some doctor as soon as possible;
